Is Graphic Design Considered Art?

Design, pattern and shape were all essential design elements used by graphic illustrators towards the end of the 1800s. This major shift in approach to graphic design can be traced back to one artist, who died at the young age of 26. This figure created a unique, personal vision of the style that is now known as ‘Art Nouveau’, which has been emulated ever since its creation. Thank you for reading about graphic designers india and design.

Oscar Wilde, a celebrated and controversial literary figure and champion of art of the time, believed moral or ethical concerns should not be allowed when judging art, and that art was simply an end unto itself. Wilde chose this influential young artist to illustrate a certain story which is both exotic and perverse. Using elegant sweeping lines and patterns, clever distortions and sinister eroticism, the young illustrator created a visual compliment to the tale.

His work was made distinctive by a spectacular give and take between black and white. This artist often used elegant patterns on a light surface, surrounded by heavy borders and negative space. Beardsley tended towards asymmetrical composition whose movements were depicted through long, curving lines. Human characters in these drawings were generally created with deceptively simple outlines in contrast to the complexities of their environment and the objects that they interact with on paper. This interactions between complicated details and simple, clean lines create much of the strength in his art.

Japanese art, as well a a revival in medieval art forms and early Renaissance work inspired designers at the end of the 19th century. Many artists in both the United States and Europe have imitated the work of this young illustrator, and he became quite well-known as a direct result of his illustrations appearing in quite a few famous publications. Currently, many of his pieces are often reproduced as posters and prints. Obtain further advice on crowdsourcing and the subject of design.

By the late 19th century, poster art began to emerge as an art form in its own right. What was once a simple means of promotion and advertising was now taking the stage as a recognized form of art. Posters were some of the first things to be printed in color, all of the books still being printed in black and white. The leaders of most poster designs started focusing on a large, eye catching image with bright colors. Wording for the product or event was kept to a bare minimum. He knew that the audience’s attention was more easily attracted to simplicity so he used vivid colors and flat, basic shapes. Yet, the lines he used to construct his images were hesitant. They were a bit broken like those of an Impressionist painting. His pieces are heralded as classic art nouveau posters’ forerunners.

A different illustrator who employed more powerful outlines and contours with greater fluidity is believed to have created the proper art nouveau poster. Fluid young women with loose clothes and long hair make up his most famous works. An additional renowned art nouveau poster artist’s creations were invariably characterized by sleek, thin proportions which included a full-body rendering of a woman. To make the intricate and detailed patterns of the time, the artists would draw from many sources including fold art, Arab and Moorish decoration, Hebrew lettering, Celtic motifs, Japanese wood cuts and Byzantine mosaics.

You can easily partake of the varied graphic design talents of these turn of the last century artists via their numerous manuscripts and reprints of their works. Late 19th century and early 20th century poster art is available from dealers who specialize in it. Their booths can be found at collectibles shops and large international style antique shows. They aren’t available for peanuts. Bring your checkbook and be ready to write two or three zeroes in order to bring home one of these originals in mint condition.
